Commanders Corner
I would like to thank everyone that helped out with the cemetery clean up on September 12, 2009.
I also would like to mention some upcoming legion events:
-Legion Golf Tournament 10-24-09 at 12 noon at Den Brae Golf Course in Sanbornton.
-Cribbage at the Post has started every Wednesday night at 6:30pm.
-Breakfast at the post is every other week 7-10:30am. We are looking for volunteers, please contact Malcolm Havlock if you are interested. The schedule is on the legion website.
-Veterans Day is Wednesday November 11. Line up for the parade starts at 10:30am at the Legion.
-Friday night raffles start on 10/9.
-Halloween pit stop at the legion will be from 5-8pm. We are in need of volunteers to help run this event and any ideas are welcome.
-Pool will be starting Sunday, 11/1.
-Thanksgiving dinner will be held on Thanksgiving Day for the less fortunate. Contact Jackie Newton is you would like to donate or help.
As you have heard we are in the process of taking bids for the roof and bids for a fire system. This is a big expense and I know cash is short, but each and every dollar goes a long way. We have some important items coming up in meetings (such as the roof) and we need more members to attend the meetings to make a decisions on whether or not to accept which bids. Also we are still looking for officers for the upcoming year voting for these positions are held in April, but the candidates will need to be nominated by March. During the months of November and December we are making baskets of food for those in need, if you know anyone that would need one please let Chuck Lewis know.
